| I love trains. Waiting on the platform, I search down the tracks looking for any impending sign of what is to come. Sometimes, I hear it before I see it. The roar of the metal of the wheels slashing forward against the metal of the tracks, and the chugging of the engine...chugga,chugga,chugga...louder until the screeching of the brakes and the sparks fly. All aboard! Oh, this is the best part, I am actually engaged...I'm on the train. I always search for a window seat. I must have a view. Pshhyew..the air brakes hiss...the wheels spinning frantically on the tracks..then engaging. I'm off! Looking out the window pane, the landscape flips by like scenes in a movie. Oh my, it's almost like flying. I lose track of all time, I am captured, enraptured, becoming part of this flowing scene before my eyes. Who picks the landscape, the train or the conductor? And then...oh no! Halt. Stop. End of the line. It's over. Michael Dutton when is the sequel? I'm at the platform...I can almost hear the train a coming. | This is a delightful book that will resonate with everyone, but especially those who love their Lionel Trains. I have passed my copy on to a few adult friends, all of whom loved it. What a wonderful, magical book for the holidays. I read it twice before Christmas, 2008, and will read it every Christmas in the years to come.
The characters, plot and story transported me to a special place that was like being in my own little miniature Christmas village. All the stress of making gifts,wrapping,decorating and baking were forgotten when I would reopen this book, settle in a comfy chair, and let myself fall back
into its pages.
I highly recommend Christmasville and am looking forward to the next installment.
