Item Description...
Product Description A multi-tasking mama, Summer Finley has found ways to handle whatever life throws at her with grace and a grin. Until now, that is. An "abnormal" medical test result sends Summer into an emotional tailspin and prompts her to fulfill a life-long dream of "meeting" her best friend and pen pal since fourth grade, Noelle Van Zandt, face-to-face.
Their blissful week together in the Netherlands finds Summer and Noelle floating down a canal in Amsterdam, visiting Corrie Ten Boom's Hiding Place, sipping decadent Dutch cocoa in Delft, and bobbing merrily along through a sea of brilliant, spring-fresh tulips. Each day takes them further from midlife anxiety and closer to trusting God in deeper ways.
When Summer finally confides in Noelle about the abnormal test results, Summer's honesty prompts Noelle to share a long-held heartache. The two friends find they both needed to be together more than either of them realized. Could it be this adventure was tucked away in God's imagination long before Summer bought her ticket to fly to the land of merry tulips and kalomping wooden shoes?

 | Absolutely a must read! Mar 3, 2010 |
| Sisterchicks In Wooden Shoes is probably one of my all time favorite books! Of course, I absolutely (and I do mean absolutely!) love all of the Sisterchick books. The escapades and adventures of the friends or sisters makes one want to grab a suitcase and your sisterchick and have an adventure of your own. These books are easy, light reading but there are many truths throughout the stories. I guess this book would be a favorite because the "girls" go on a trip to Holland. Not only are there tulips and wooden shoes but the story ties into Corrie ten Boom and her family. I'm not a crier my nature but there is a chapter in this story that really touched my heart and tears came to my eyes...I had one of those "eye opening" moments where the Lord helped me to "see" beyond the story. If you want to go on a trip but don't have the time or finances right now then go to this site and get this book..it's actually better than a trip---no packing or passport. | | | | More of the Same Feb 10, 2010 |
| Like the other Sisterchicks books, it is about two women friends in their 40's exploring some interesting local--in this case, Holland. Summer's mammogram came back abnormal, and since her mother died of cancer, she is terrified. She decides to take a trip to Holland to visit a woman she has been pen-pals with since she was eight. They see all the sites, and learn a little about themselves and God in the process. If you liked the other Sisterchicks books you'll probably like this one. I wouldn't call it preachy but the religious elements are very much front and center. | | | | Another great Sisterchicks book Oct 30, 2009 |
I've read all the Sisterchicks books, and have to agree with another person who stated this was probably their least favorite. I also agree with how the American was sterotypical.
To the person show gave the gook 3 stars because of the "Christian slant," Robin Jones Gunn is a Christian writer. Her books are based on living for Christ. | | | | Disappointed Oct 6, 2009 |
This book might be a hit in a convent, but I feel readers should be warned about the total religious slant of the story. Also, the contents tended to be somewhat childish and silly. | | | | Sisterchicks in Wooden shoes author Robin Jones Gunn Oct 4, 2009 |
| ROBIN JONES GUNN WRITES REALLY GOOD BOOKS ABOUT GIRLS HAVING A FUN WITH THEIR GIRLFRIENDS. SHARING THEIR LIFE EXPERIENCES WITH THIER BEST FRIENDS! AND JUST ENJOYING THEM SELVES...
